I noticed that it had been trying to finish a scan since January, so I stopped it, then tried to perform a full scan. It would not get past updating virus definitions. Start Antivirus Essentials, stop running scans, go to the update tab and click 'Update now'. 4. After some time the Virus Definitions will be updated.
